This new benchmarking tool measures how EU countries are implementing cancer screening policies. The tool reveals scores from 26% to 91%, highlighting where action is needed.

The Index highlights significant differences in how European countries implement cancer screening policies. For example, Portugal and Slovenia have reached scores over 90%, while Bulgaria and Romania received the lowest scores, which correlates with the absence of population-based cancer screening programmes.
This benchmark tool and results are featured in the report "Next Level for Cancer Screening: From Commitments to Continued Action for Early Cancer Detection" by Dr Isabel Rubio, Dr Luis Seijo, and colleagues at European Cancer Organisation.
TOGAS Project Coordinator Mārcis Leja contributed to this important work, alongside TOGAS consortium partners Zorana Maravic and Marianna Vitaloni from Digestive Cancers Europe - for Patients (DiCE).
The report brings together insights from the European Cancer Summit, where EU4Health projects TOGAS, PRAISE-U, and SOLACE Project assessed progress in turning cancer screening pilots into programmes.
