Wrocław Medical University, our consortium member, plays an important role in the TOGAS project through the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. Their team will screen 1,000 participants from the general population, aged 31-35, testing for Helicobacter pylori antibodies, a known risk factor for gastric cancer.
With approximately 4,000 deaths from gastric cancer annually in Poland alone, early detection and prevention are critical. The TOGAS study aims to establish the first comprehensive gastric cancer prevention strategy in Europe.
